Happy Easter!

We had a fun-filled Easter weekend!  The big kids loved all the Egg hunts, and Carson just went with the flow!

We were especially excited to spend time with our good friends, the Johnstons.  They came down to Belle Plaine to visit and even joined us at the Emma Krumbee's Egg Hunt on Saturday morning.  After quick naps, we headed over to Grandma and Grandpa Kalal's for another egg hunt and Gary's ribs. Yum!!

Before the kids went to bed, they left out carrots for the Easter bunny.  They were MORE than a little excited to see what treasures they would find in the morning.

Sunday morning, it was so cute listening to the big kids on the monitor...  Cooper usually wakes up first and comes upstairs on a normal morning.  But we asked him to make sure to wake up his sister and call for us before he came upstairs on Easter morning.  We heard, "Mommy, daddy, we're awake!  We're awake!!"  at about 6:15 AM.  So it was an early start to a fun day...

They had a great time following the egg trail the bunny left for them up the stairs and into the living room.  Carson was even up a little early to enjoy the fun on his first Easter morning.  Inside the eggs, the bunny left his signature 'bunny marshmallows' and some jelly beans.  Izzy had zero self control and probably ate a pound of jelly beans before 7 AM :)  After enjoying the basket treasures, we got ready and headed to church.  I was so excited for Izzy to let me curl her hair for the first time... she was proud and kept saying she was "beautiful."  It was a special morning at church for two big reasons; first, we had a wonderful surprise of Grandma Lori joining us, and second, Cooper actually started to understand what Pastor was talking about in his sermon.  Cooper pointed to the cross a couple times and whispered to me, "Mom, that's when Jesus died on the cross!"  I don't think he quite understands the whole 'rising from the dead' thing yet, but that will come :)

Brunch at the Kalal's (more eggs!) and dinner at Jeremy's aunt Darlene's house (more eggs) were both fun, too!  The kids were exhausted and slept well that night!!

Carson spent much of his first Easter sleeping, but he looked pretty handsome and much older than a two-month-old in his polo shirt onesie and khaki corduroys ;)  No candy this Easter!  It was fun to catch a few photos of the three kids together, although I'm kicking myself that I don't have one great photo of the three of them together in their Easter dress clothes.  I'll have to remember that next year...

Carson's Two Month Update

My handsome little man is two months old, and I couldn't love this kid any more!!!  He is such a content, calm, and patient baby... But he's also a smiley little guy who is getting more 'talkative' each day.

Stats:
His 2-month checkup is later this week, but I am guessing he has passed 13 pounds.
Size 2 diapers
Size 3 month clothes are getting pretty snug, so I think the 6 month clothing switch is going to happen this week
Longest stretch between feedings: 6.5 hours (he usually goes 5.5-6.5 hours for his first stretch each night!)
Eats about seven times in a 24-hour day, and makes every ounce count ;)
Guzzles 5 ounces in a bottle, sometimes more!
Not a huge fan of tummy time, but we're working on it

Carson is starting to work on drifting off to sleep on his own... I try when possible to put him down for naps and bed when he's very drowsy but not all the way out. He tolerates it very well most days.  With the help of his nuk, he loves to sleep!!

Nights are going well, and when he gets up to eat, he almost always goes right back down.  That's a relief!  And his fussy evenings seem to be behind us.  Although he is a little more needy in the evening, it's a huge improvement from the hour or two of scream we were getting!  I don't mind that he just needs a little more snuggling in the evenings, especially when he's calm about it!

He giggles now, and his smiles come a lot easier.  He is cheeriest right away in the morning after his belly is full.  He loves to coo, gurgle, and squeal for me.  And Cooper really got him going the other night--I can't wait to post that little video:)

He got to meet the 4th graders, daddy's colleagues, and the kids at daycare.  He makes everyone smile just by being his cute chubby self.

First trip to the mall.  He loved being snuggled in the stroller.  Here, he's smiling for grandma while his brother and  sister play in the germ pit.

Here is one of those morning smiles I got while we were 'chatting'

First trip to the zoo. He was only awake when it was time to eat... Imagine that.
