"Mom, why do you love me?"

Tonight I had the sweetest little conversation with Cooper...

A couple weeks ago, he was having a very cranky night, and at bedtime, he was being, let's just say 'less than cooperative.'  He refused to snuggle and have our usual bedtime talk, didn't want to give hugs or kisses, the works.  So I boosted myself up to his bunk bed and said, "Goodnight Cooper.  I love you.  Even when you're crabby."  And I went on my way.

Fast forward to tonight.  We had a good night by all accounts, Cooper was cheery and cooperative.  Even snuggly :). As I finished tucking the big kids in, I boosted up to Cooper's bed to give him one last kiss and told him he was the best thing that ever happened to me (my favorite thing to say to the kids at bedtime!!) and that I loved him.

He said, "Mom, why do you love me even when I'm crabby?"

I wanted to say a million things.  ...because everyone gets crabby sometimes ...because you love ME even when I'm crabby ...because there is no one else in the world who will ever love you as unconditionally as your mom and dad ...because even on your worst days, you and your brother and sister are still my greatest blessings ...because your worst day is another kids' best day ...because that's what God trusts me to do ...the reasons are too numerous to count!

For tonight, my response was, "Because I'm your mom.  I love you no matter what.  There is NOTHING you could ever do that would make me not love you."

He just smiled, hugged me again and said, "Mom, you're the best."

Thanks buddy. You know what?  I think you're the best, too :). I'll spend my days making sure you learn the thousand reasons I love you... Even when you're crabby.  ❤️

Wisconsin Dells 2016

We took a last-minute trip to The Wilderness Resort in Wisconsin Dells.  It.  Was. A. Blast!

It was Carson's first time there, and although he was a bit cranky and clingy due to his double ear infection, he still enjoyed some splashes and smiles.

Cooper was braver than we've seen him, taking on a few of the kid slides dozens of times.  He was almost frantic as he climbed up and down and around in the water features, not sure what to do next. He also loved the dumping bucket this time!

Izzy was a wild woman.  She is crazy and almost fearless.  She was pretty little for a lot of the slides, but she held her own!  She even went on a tube slide and a raft ride.  Only once... She decided they were a bit too scary.  But kudos to her for giving them a try!!

Grandma Lori came along, and thank goodness she did.  I'm not sure we wouldn't have had the same comfort without her there.  It allowed us to be one on one with each kid throughout the weekend.  It was pretty cute on Thursday night, when Cooper called her to tell her about the surprise, she asked if she could come along.  Cooper said she could and proceeded to tell her what to remember to pack and when to be ready.

The kids were so excited to be surprised.  I'm glad we waited until the night before to tell them.  It was pure joy when they found out the plan.  They helped pack and got right to bed so they'd have plenty of energy for the waterparks the next day :)

I didn't get too many pics since I found it hard to snap photos and watch a kid, but here a few:

Arcade Fun:

Mini vacations are the BEST!

ECFE

Smiley boy!

Carson loves some time to play at ECFE with just mom or dad.  Funny how he's only one and he can tell when he has undivided attention.  It's obvious how excited he gets, and a good reminder to take time with EACH kid when we can :)

It's funny how our main motive for attending ECFE classes has changed for #3!!

Best Friends

They are the best of friends, most the time.  Gosh I hope their relationship stays close as they grow!!

"Don't worry, Izz.  I'll hold your hand so you don't get too scared," said Cooper after Izzy got a band-aid worthy scrape playing outside...

Rhett has arrived!

Welcome to the world, Rhett Joseph!  Our newest little nephew & cousin was born about two weeks ago.  We got to meet him just a couple days after he was born :).

You're going to love this amazing place, little dude--have fun breaking your parents in to parenthood!!
Happy mommy, happy baby

Family of three!

Auntie again!

They love their cousin!!

Cooper was his usual gentle self with Rhett.

Izzy finally decided she'd like to hold him, too!

While up in Grand Rapids, we got to have a little fun besides meeting Rhett!

Laura took us to gymnastics open gym.  Izzy loooooved it!

Cooper had a great time, too!

Carson's favorite was the slide.

Laura is getting so big!!!

Carson is Walking!!

I almost forgot our biggest news of last month... At the age of 14 months Carson is finally walking!

He's still a chicken and prefers crawling or holding on to something... But he can and does walk :)

Great job little buddy!!!

Happy Easter 2016

Happy Easter!!  It was a great weekend to cap off a great spring break!

The Emma Krumbees Easter egg hunt was a success again... And this year, the kids were happy to pose with the bunny!

What's a trip to Emma Krumbees without some Superman ice cream from Fizzy's!?  These two yahoos were the best of friends on this morning!  My little goofballs.

That afternoon, the kids got another egg hunt at Grandma and Grandpa Kalal's.  Carson loved cracking the eggs.  And putting the eggs in and out of the buckets.  And throwing the eggs...

High five!!

The hunt!

Little Diva

Then Easter morning, the kids EAGERLY awoke to a trail of specially colored eggs leading up to their baskets.

The loot

Carson needed a little help getting the hang of his trail, but once he did... He loved it!

Yah for more sand toys!!

Happy Easter!

After church, it was off to Grandma Dawn and Kevin's house.  The kids had a blast with their aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Mom's girl!

My favorite picture of the holiday!  They look so big!!!

Another egg hunt!

My beautiful and sweet little godchild Laura...

We tried for a cousin pic, but Drake didn't want anything to do with it!  I didn't even get his face in one!
