Cooper is SEVEN!!!! It seems crazy to think just a blink ago, I was snuggling him all night long and how he's as tall as an average 4th grader! The kid is going to eat us out of house and home, and he's growing--literally--like a weed. He is tied for the tallest kid in his class!
Cooper hinted that he sure hoped he would have a surprise of balloons in his room on the morning of his birthday, so we couldn't disappoint ;) He woke up with a smile, and the entire day was great.
He got to open his gift from us right away--a REAL bow and arrow. Needless to say, he was in love.
He had to get his gear on and go try it out right away...
We finally got a little snow, so we went to find a hill. Cooper's request...
The closest we found was a tiny little hill on the side of the holding pond near our house. It was small, but it was fun for a while! Cooper loved trying out that new sled he got from Santa.
Supper was naturally at Pizza Ranch. Some close by family joined us, and we had lots of laughs and smiles celebrating this guy inching further and further from being a little kid.
The next day, Cooper had his friend party. We had planned on sledding or at the very least, playing outside... but the wind chill was below 0, so we made some inside fun!
Cooper's buds: Alex, Bree, Colton, and Kasen. Nick was on vacation so he couldn't make it. And Logan got sick that morning... but you sure made the most of it. And the noise! Oh the noise, noise noise NOISE!
There was SO much energy in the house. 1st graders are nuts!
Cooper, year 7 has been pretty great for you! You continue to make us smile and raise our eyebrows by your accomplishments and the way you make sense of the world. You really are inquisitive, and you make connections that we are astounded by. You are very, very smart. You're reading and doing math well above your grade level... and you LOVE school and LOVE to learn. I hope that never goes away. We haven't pushed you at all, but it's just all coming so naturally! What matters most to us it that you are a kind human and a hard worker. The rest just falls into place. As a first grader, you have many people you consider friends, but only a couple 'close' friends. We're so curious to see how friendships work out for you. It seems your friends seem to change with your current sports activity. At age 7, you are also still very sensitive. You sometimes whine more than your mom would like, but you're working on it... You play well with your brother and sister most of the time. But sometimes you push and push and push their buttons. You love all sports, and you're especially into hockey. Just the other day, you said you could sit and watch hockey all day long. You also love to read. You are often found laying on Carson's bed, or snuggled into the corner of the couch with the latest Captain Underpants, Berenstain Bears, or Dog Man book. You continue to work on your S and Z sounds. The other sounds have all come along, and we're really hoping with some more focused practice over this summer, we can make more of a dent in the S and Z's. Ms. Volek (homeroom), Mr. G (math), and Mrs. Voigt (reading) have all commented that you're so fun to have in class. They seem to love your enthusiasm and excitement for every day. Ms. Volek tells me she loves listening to your stories :)
Cooper, you're awesome. We just love you so much. Keep doing your thing. We are so proud of the young man you are becoming!
The love of a family is life's greatest blessing.

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day 2017
I just LOVE this time of year. I feel all the feels on Christmas Eve and Christmas morning. I love that we are making traditions and memories that the kids are starting to remember!
After the Children's Program at church, the kids spread out their reindeer food in the yard. (Note the NO snow for Christmas this year... although we did have flurries for a bit!)
I love them so much! Carson's bow tie is just too much! My heart is full.
Christmas Eve means family movie night!
Christmas Morning... those sleepy smiles are the best :)
Here, they're checking out their stockings...
And they all got what the asked for!!!! Carson got a remote control Lightning McQueen, Izzy got a Hatchimal, and Cooper got a sled with some extra mittens.
We also had the kids open their gifts from us.
I love Carson's 'wow' face on this one. I think he actually said, "Are you KIDDING me?!" when he opened up his own set of Legos.
Izzy loved taking care of her Hatchimal egg, and surprisingly, it hatched before we had even left for church!
...and it was TWINS!!
Another family pic on Christmas morning. There miiiiiiight have been some bribery involved to get these smiles...
Izzy spent much of the morning playing with her Barbie camper. She got it from Grandma and Grandpa Kalal, and she loved playing with all the little pieces!
Our kids really, really love playing board games and card games. Surprisingly, Carson is catching on really quickly to most of them. They all got card holders for Christmas, too, so it makes it a lot easier to play!
Monopoly Jr. was a big hit with all of them! Haha, notice the carnage of Christmas in the background?!?
Christmas was amazing. The kids were thankful, happy, and excited for everything. We are grateful for all our blessings!

The Holidays are Upon Us :)
December is such an exciting month, made even more exciting when the kids just LOVE everything about it!!
The big kids and I went to see Cirque Dreams at Mystic with Grandma Dawn and Grandpa Kevin. They loved it, and it was cute and fun to get them dressed up for a fancy night!
Holiday Express is always a fun event!
Mom invited me to a paint night at the Tap Room... we're pretty proud of our creations!
The Mankato lights show is a holiday tradition now, and the kids just walk around like they own the place! We found a night that wasn't crazy cold and we had a great time!
Snow! We finally got a little bit of snow to play in! Bring it on!
My cuties!
Grandma Lori made a gingerbread house with them all. Needless to say, a bunch of candy went missing....
And the preschoolers had a gingerbread making party, and I got a chance to leave school for a while to join her! It was cute to see her in her element!
Our first Christmas gathering was at mom and Kevin's house. ALL the cousins, aunts, and uncles came! It is so fun seeing the kids play together more as they all get older ;)
Cousin pic! Eight of them at the moment...
The thrill of the holiday season is SO SO much more fun with kids. They love everything about the prep--the parties, the food, the magic, ALL of it.
