The Kalals Take Wisconsin Dells (2017 Summer Vacation Part 1)

Surprise!!  We found a steal of a deal that just too good to pass up... at Mt. Olympus!  Another perk of both being teachers, means we get to make what we want of our summer schedule... and this deal just happened to be Monday through Friday :)

We headed out of Belle Plaine with suitcases full and the kids curious about where we were headed.  We hadn't told them anything. but they figured out we were going somewhere to spend the night since we had the suitcase, we'd probably be swimming since we had the lifejackets, and we weren't camping, since we didn't have the camper.  They are such detectives!!

They got enough clues to figure out the destination was Wisconsin Dells, but it took some explaining because we've only ever been to the Wilderness, so they thought 'that' was Wisconsin Dells.  When we drove into town, they were in awe.  It's the first time we've had them to the Dells in the summertime!

Here, we're getting ready to move in for the week.  Mt. Olympus, here we come!

Carson was working on thumbs up.  This is his current version!

Crazy Izzy liked to spin around on this little slide.

This little cutie just didn't know what to do first, or next, or next!!

The first day, we got a couple hours in... just a taste of the fun that was to come for the week!!

The snuggles are ALWAYS my favorite part of vacations.

We swam, we played, we splashed... they crashed.  The two-room condo was just our size, and the kids liked to sleep together most of the nights.  Every night they crashed HARD.

The speed slides were conquered.  Here, Jeremy is finishing up his run by spraying Cooper!!  The big kids took countless runs down these slides.

"Basking" in the sun.

One of the areas the kids really liked was just a giant, and I mean giant, pool.  It was zero-entry, and even in the middle it was only 3.5 feet.  Check out Izzy's get up:

We found ice cream, of course!  It was actually one of our most expensive treats of the week... at a whopping $15 for five soft serve cones.  Hahahahhah... the sticky smiles were worth it!

This time, the kids all fell asleep in OUR bed with Jeremy!

A couple of the evenings, we went to the theme park portion of Mt. Olympus.  The kids loved the rides--especially the go karts.

One of the classic lines from the week was, "That looks terrifying!" or "That was terrifying!"  This giant tube slide sure seemed terrifying until they tried it and LOVED it!!

All smiles on the train!

Cooper jumped on the giant high swings without a worry.  They went SO HIGH!!

The condo had a big whirlpool tub, which was entertainment in itself.

The kids LOVED the wave pool, and we spent a little time there each day.  There was a giant wave about every five minutes.

Our little goofballs!

No, we're not naked ;)  It was a rare moment of everyone contently relaxing before we were both off chasing kids again...

Our last night in Wisconsin, we went mini golfing at Pirate's Cove.  It worked out to be a late and FUN night!

The kids golfed while we just watched.  They had a blast.  Carson would hit it once and then go pick it up and place it right next to the hole.  Every time.

What a week it was!!!  The kids LOVED it.  We LOVED it.  Having the timeshare condo made it so convenient to eat all our meals in the room, and pack snacks so that we weren't spending much extra money outside the money we paid to stay.  The waterpark passes were included with our stay, and aside from golfing, we stayed at Mt. Olympus all five days.  It was perfect for our family, and it was the perfect length of stay.  When they get a little bigger, we probably won't want to stay at the same resort for days at a time, but for now, it was just right.  I wouldn't have changed a thing!

On the way home, Cooper got a bit carsick.  That extended our trip home by quite a bit, but thankfully he felt better after we stopped for a while and got him a bite to each.  You wouldn't know it based on this picture, but he was pretty 'green' for a while.
