On our final day in Duluth, we had a last exploring mission while Jeremy packed up the camper. We found some giant rocks!
Cooper taught Carson how to dab. I wasn't quick enough to get a pic, though!
We grabbed a bite to eat at Canal Park and then threw some more rocks.
...And we were treated with a giant 1000' ship coming in!
I would say this is proof of a fantastic weekend! We were driving over to Grand Rapids to see Amanda and Dana and their families, and they just couldn't hold out!
We took the kids mini golfing, and they loved every minute! It was Carson and Laura's first time. Carson was totally into it... Laura, not so much.
Oh, and it was Leah's first time, too :)
The whole weekend was so fun! It was nice to spend an extra day up North seeing Rhett, Leah, and Laura. Oh and Amanda, Dana, Dan, and Jeremy :) We are so proud of Jeremy and his third marathon finish. And we LOVED the new camper, this time in much drier weather!
On the way up, Carson had his first experience with Big Buck Hunter. Great.
We camped at Spirit Mountain campground, and the kids had a blast! Eli got to camp, too!
These little rugrats had an amazing time in the camper! We tried letting Carson sleep in the dungeon with the big kids. That was a big fat no go. He instantly got hyper--jumping around, squealing, smacking, rolling, the whole works. Needless to say, he got the spend the weekend sleeping with mom and dad. We tried, we really did, but every time, he did the same thing. One night, everything was quiet, and we thought maybe it was going to work. Then, in the dark, we heard a giant thump. It was Carson hopping out of bed to come and 'sweep wif you mommy.' Yes, okay little guy!
...And then came the MARATHON!
Cooper and Izzy designed their own signs to cheer Jeremy (and Adam) on.
Izzy's squiggly line is what she thought was the race course :)
Carson was not too interested in the marathon, making noise, or holding signs. He was in his own little world, eating snack after snack after snack, and doing laps around this little tree.
First came Adam...
Then came Jeremy! We waited at about mile 24 to watch the boys pass, and then we headed to the finish line to catch Jeremy at the end!
The proud marathon mama!
And our proud family! Jeremy finished the marathon in 4:20. It was his best finish since starting this crazy marathon journey.
Back at the campground, the kids were back to more shenanigans. Here, the kids were goofing around, pretending they were from Las Vegas and speaking with European accents. They had us rolling! We got a lot of 'pardon me' and 'bonjours.'
Grandpa promised homemade ice cream, and the kids got it! They didn't mind helping, either!
Sparkler fun!
Carson learned how to tell some jokes :)
Father's Day morning was cute and fun. Cooper and Izzy each made cards for him, and they gave him his big bag of goodies they picked out for him at Fleet Farm.
The kids got a little restless and a little wild sticking just around the campground, so I took them out 'exploring' lots of times.
Sunday was a fun day for exploring beyond the campground, too. We hit up Enger Park and the kids had a blast!
We can see EVERYTHING from up here!
Carson was not feeling the greatest, we could tell, and he was a bit clingy. (We came to find out a few days later that he had an ear infection...) Nonetheless, he was a trooper and just needed a lot of distraction.
Daddy and his girl. Izzy was really into selfies, and made her rounds with everyone.
The kids were posing with Auntie Jackie when Brian photo bombed. They thought it was hilarious!
Happy Father's Day 2017... from the beach! Ha. It was the coldest I've ever been on a beach, but it was fun!
It was very hard to keep the kids out of the water, but I sort of succeeded with Carson. He was the driest of the three of them when all was said and done.
We kept going up the North Shore to Betty's Pies and Gooseberry Falls.
Carson loved his 'special spot' on my back. He is getting HEAVY, so this will most certainly be the last summer with this backpack. But it worked perfectly for the day!
Throwing rocks could keep them busy for h.o.u.r.s.
My goofy girl. We are two of a kind :)
Back at Canal Park, Jeremy gave Cooper some skipping rock lessons. He actually got a few to skip!
More exploring back at the campground!
Carson kept collecting rocks and calling them 'magical' all weekend long.
...And then came Jackie's latest Pinterest idea. Jeremy was a good sport as we pelted him with cheese balls. The shaving cream was quite sticky!
