The Beginning of Something WONDERFUL

I am starting to plant seeds of potty training for Carson...

He's been waking up dry on some mornings, so I thought we'd start trying.  He has peed on the floor like a little puppy several times after bath, and now he'll occasionally sit on the potty before or after the bath.  He has peed on the floor next to the potty, peed on the stool in the bathroom next to the potty, and peed on the floor just outside the door of the potty.  But never in the potty.  Until this glorious afternoon.

We made him a little sticker chart and he picked a minion sticker for his first one.

Izzy also thought it was important to make a potty chart just from her.  She wrote the message completely on her own: Carson you are amazing.  She also drew a picture of him (note the belly button), and a picture of his cake with three candles, "because we'll want him potty trained before he's three mom."  She is so cute and thoughtful!  She made such a big deal of it with him, and helped him pick out a second sticker for this chart.  They hand side by side in the bathroom.

He was excited to show daddy once he got home!  Look at that proud little smile!

This 'first' was about two months ago, and since then, it's been slow going.  I had hoped for a magical and quick transition, and it just doesn't look like that's going to happen.  But he's collected three more stickers since, and he's gone once at daycare!  I'm sure the time will come sooner rather than later, now it's all about being patient and crossing my fingers for his brain to make the connection soon!
